Position Purpose
To provide quality clinical counselling services to expatriates living and working in Cambodia
Location: Phnom Penh
Tenure: Preferably not less than a one year commitment
Hours: Full time or Part Time
Reports to: Living Well Director
Direct reports: None
Key internal relationships: Director, Office manager, Living Well volunteers and counselling staff
Key external relationships: Other counselling services within Cambodia, Living Well members and wider ex-pat community.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Professional Clinical Counselling
Provide clinical counselling for individual, couple, family and group counselling sessions.
Build a relationship of trust and respect with clients.
Assess each client, identify mental well-being concerns and emotional distress.
Ensure a professional ethical framework is adhered to (such as BACP).
Identify clients needs and offer an appropriate therapeutic approach.
Explore with the client the effectiveness of the approach.
Work alongside the client to achieve their goals.
Maintain confidential records monitoring the client’s process.
Meet regularly with other colleagues for peer support and review.
Meet regularly (at least monthly for one and a half hours) with an external supervisor.
Assist with preparation and involvement with Living Well groups and training seminars as required and appropriate.
Financial Administration
Communicate clearly with clients regarding appointments.
Maintain accurate client records, document therapeutic approaches provided and progress.
Ensure appropriate security of client notes. Inform clients of the data protection policy.
Follow and liaise with the office manager regarding payments for service provision.
Follow Living Well client management systems.
Participate in Living Well team meetings.
Safety and Risk Management
Maintain professional standards of practice, within the parameters noted in the Living Well Safeguarding Policy and professional practice.
Essential Experience, Qualifications & Skills
Hold a recognised professional clinical counselling qualification.
Have two or more years post qualifying clinical practice.
Have evidence of experience providing effective therapeutic approaches with individuals, couples, families and group settings.
Have exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, including written and excellent verbal communication skills in English.
Desirable Qualifications
Have the ability to provide the following: clinical supervision and/or mentoring.
Have experience living and working in Cambodia.
Personal Attributes
Commitment to continued professional development.
Good time management skills.
Ability to empathize and be non-judgmental.
Keen interest in learning and skills improvement, combined with humility to recognize that many answers are unknown
Ability to harness resources: both internal and external for the development of Living Well.
Good self-awareness.

Aim to live out the principles of self-care, reflection and active Christian faith as promoted by Living Well.
Prioritise prayer for Living Well staff and clients as recognition of Living Well’s dependence on God’s power.

Desirable Qualifications
Hold a recognized certification or degree in counselling.
Ability to provide mentoring.
Have experience living and working in Cambodia (or cross culturally).
