Seeing the Hearts of Marriages

Seeing the Hearts of Marriages

How do you encourage a married couple towards deeper emotional intimacy? How do you prepare engaged folks for a lifetime of joy, commitment, and occasional tension? If you want to deepen the emotional intimacy in your own marriage, or if you want to gather some more tools for walking alongside folks in hurting marriages, this is for you. We will look at some of the principles and tools that I use regularly with couples from (and serving) around the world. Married or single, everyone is welcome. Couples are welcome to attend together, of course, but it will not be a marriage retreat. We will look at the Vortex of Terror, the Created for Connection Roadmap, and we will discuss several time-tested marriage tools and resources. There will be ample time given for group processing, but no one will be required to share anything they don’t want to share; it will not be group therapy. Let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to seeing you there as we continue to learn how to walk alongside of marriages!

$43 for Living Well Member

Seeing the Hearts of the Hurting

This 3 day online training (8:30-11:00am Cambodia Time) presented by Jonathan Trotter will address the heart behind pastoral care and empathetic coaching, the Shapes Diagram, the transition bridge, a simple approach to working with couples, the basics to emotion coaching, heart-felt listening and more.

The goal would be that you come away from this hands-on training with some concrete resources for your own emotional health, as well as some simple ideas that will help you as you walk
alongside those who are hurting. This is not a certification course, but it will hopefully provide you with an overview of the various tools and approaches that can be helpful.

The training will be in English and will be limited to 25 people.

To apply to join this training, please email: info@livingwellcambodia.org
Please provide your name, organization, email, phone, location and please let us know why you would like to join this training. Your spot will not be reserved until your application is approved and payment received.

COUNSELING INTENSIVE

Contact us to arrange a date that suits you.

This week long intensive is an opportunity for couples or individuals desiring heart-focused, Jesus-centered pastoral counseling.

Each Intensive will consist of 4 two-hour private sessions (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday). Sessions are available in the morning and afternoon, and will be facilitated by living well's pastoral counselor, Jonathan Trotter.

Intensives provide a unique opportunity for those who simply want to pause, reconnect, and grow in intimacy with God and each other, as well as those in crisis. It is also our desire that Intensives will make help and healing more available and accessible to those living outside of Phnom Penh.

Get in touch with us to arrange a week that suits you. Sessions can be booked for the morning from 10am to noon or for th afternoon from 2pm to 4pm. The cost for the whole week is $240 for non-members and $200 for members of living well or our partner organizations.

What people are saying…

“I loved the intensive counseling sessions! I loved that there was time to process and pray each day after the sessions. It allowed time for everything from the counseling sessions to sink into my heart and mind without typical everyday distractions. God's love was tangible during those few hours that I stopped and wrestled with my issues in the Lord's presence. During my intensive sessions, I felt true healing of hurts from childhood, and I walked away feeling whole, loved, forgiven, and empowered.”

“We joined the counseling intensive not in crisis mode or because we were stuck. I wanted to go through it because I thought we needed help with our communication skills. We knew going in it was only a week but with our busy schedules it was exactly what we needed. A week carved away for just us. To look into each other’s eyes and truly see one another. We walked away from our experience actually seeing one another for the first time in a very long time. We gained practical tools and insight in how to value one another. I’m very grateful we said ‘yes’ to the counseling intensive. We highly recommend it!”

"Counselling Intensives, though only four sessions, solidified my healing over the past four years.  God used my counsellor to speak truth in my life in mighty ways. My counselling intensives have ceased, but my healing journey continues because The Lord goes with me."

“If you're wondering if you should do an intensive counseling week at living well, I would say, "Go for it!" (After praying about it and all that, of course.) I went in not really knowing what to expect but having some things on my mind that I wanted to work through. We covered those things on my mind, and went way deeper, too! My counselor brought together a useful mix of tools, counseling theory, practical experience and biblical principles in order to help me get my mind around what I'd been through in the past, how that affected my behavior in the present, and then taking it to the heart level by bringing it to the Lord and letting Him speak truth and love and new hope to me. It was an eye-opening week, a deep week with the Lord, and a week that makes moving forward feel a lot lighter!”

Prepare/Enrich Practitioner Training

*Please note: location is currently TBD. We will email you with any location updates.

What is Prepare/Enrich?

P/E is a customized couples assessment completed online that identifies a couple’s strengths and growth areas. It is one of the most widely used programs for premarital counseling and premarital education. The inventory is used for marriage counseling, marriage enrichment, and couples considering engagement. A couple works with a certified facilitator to review their assessment results through feedback sessions where the facilitator helps the couple discuss and understand their results while learning proven relationship skills.

Program Objectives

This one-day training will accredit participants to be users of the copyrighted P/E programs from the USA and the diagnostic tool to help couples in counseling, to prepare for marriage, or to enrich their marriage.

Participants will learn how to administer and interpret the couple inventories and give feedback to couples using the six couple exercises. Each inventory is intended to assess areas in which relationships need to grow and strengths that will enable them to progress in a positive direction. The P/E inventories are comprehensive, diagnostically valuable, and designed to generate a meaningful dialogue between the facilitator and couple. The inventories have been scientifically developed to have high levels of reliability, validity and clinical utility.
